Dae Mul Reaches 20% After Episode 2 But Why?

It was expected that Dae Mul would be a very close match up with Runaway Plan B. But Dae Mul got a little more than 20% in viewer ratings after episode 2 and is trying to become dominant as a Wednesday and Thursday drama. After first aired on October 6, 18% viewer’s rating was recorded. This drama received lots of interest even before broadcasting because famous actors like Ko Hyun Jung, Cha In Pyo, Kwon Sang Woo were casted and also because Dae Mul will tell the story of the first female president of Korea.

But everyone expected it to be a very close match with Runaway because Runaway has an advantage; it is a succession drama of Baker King, Kim Tak Goo and it has global star Rain (Bi) casted. After episode 2, Dae Mul got 21.5% and Runaway only got 16.2%. Why is Dae Mul getting the viewers’ attention so fast?

Dae Mul covered political issue which is rather tough to deal like impeachment, kidnapping in Afghanistan and explosion of submarine on the first episode and that has touched many viewers and got more attention.

Also the excellent acting of the actors bring viewer’s engagement. Ko Hyun Jung, who got the nickname “Thousand Face” from her previous drama Queen Seon Duk, demonstrated Korea’s first female president who love people with all her heart and also the ordinary woman who cries for her husband’s death. It will be very interesting to see what Ko Hyun Jung (who always win viewers’ high rating on her drama) will record for this drama.
