Road Number One airs on June 23, 2010. This is the first 100% pre-production for a Korean drama. In Korea, television series is usually filmed during the broadcasting period. The script for this drama was finished three years ago and the filming was finished ten days ago. The writer for this drama series is Han Ji Hoon, who was also the writer for drama, Time of Dog and Wolf.
“This is a great time to try a pre-production. We’ve been preparing this drama for a long time and I was so confident on this one” said Lee Jang Soo, the Producer of Road Number One. He continued, “Through this pre-production, we could achieve a higher quality of completeness because the actors and staff knew the story line from the beginning to the end.”
Few Korean dramas have attempted to try a pre-production but all of them have failed. One of the weakness for pre-production dramas is the lack of communication from the viewers. For this kind of problem, Producer Lee Jang Soo told the press that a pre-production can be improved during the broadcasting period through editing.
Road Number One tells a story about a sad and cruel fate of three young people’s lives during the Korean War. It airs today on MBC.
